| These dolertite intrusions were formed in the Jurassic, ~185 million years ago, at two kilometres depth, from a massive volcanic event that covered up to a third of Tasmania, intruding into older sedimentary rocks. They match up with rocks in Antarctica and Africa that are part of Gondwana Land.
